Music and Healing

The world of today is filled with the sounds of music and chaos.  Both having places in our existence.  The sounds of chaos help us to break down the old patterns we have carried with us for this and other lifetimes. The music brings us back into balance and harmony with ourselves and the universe.

Living in the age we are living, the Age of Aquarius, we are continually connecting more to vibration through technology, our soul’s goal remains to become all that we can be. Without the help of the vibrations of chaos, we would remain who we were when we were born, unable to break free from old thinking and behaviors.

In past ages much of the chaos and disruption came in the forms of dealing with natural disasters, diseases and wars.  We still deal with these today but they are not over the extended periods of time which the masses of people in the past dealt with them. Today natural disasters see help from others; even other nations come to aid within hours and days. This was not the case in the past, it could take years for nations and individuals to overcome these. What has changed is we are  now in this new age where electricity and technology spreads the news faster than ever before.

Time has sped up so quickly over the last century. Along with this our needs to evolve have also sped up making it necessary for us to have chaos to help with this change. This faster pace has many of us finding it hard too maintain an even keel through the process.

We have the sounds of chaos come in many forms and in our society this comes to us through the music we are bombarded with all the time. We hear it in malls, stores, our homes and individual sound devices.  Even the white noise from computers, florescent lighting and air systems affects us.  In the matter of few hours we can feel completely overwhelmed with all the sounds we have no control over.

One way of getting back to a state of equilibrium is to listen to music which soothes the jagged edges and rebalances our feelings of self.  The music which can help facilitate this, is not always the same for each person and it may even change over time. For some the music will be Rock & Roll, Jazz, Rapp or any other kind of music, as long as one listens to only one kind of genre at a time, it can help get you back on track. Listening to a number of variety of forms of music within a short period of time will keep you in a state of flux and keeps you from feeling one with self. One kind of music which seems to help most individuals regain a sense of calm, is the classical forms as most of them encompass regular rhythm and harmony.

Music having 80 beats per minute or less tend to be more soothing to our psyche than music that is faster. Also picking music that vibrates to you astrologically can be quite beneficial. Studied carefully in relation to the stars, the entire human body will be found to re-echo the music of the spheres.

For those with music backgrounds the associated flat and sharp major keys may be substituted. Ex. G-sharp major could be substituted with A-flat major, etc. Being a Cancer native, I have always enjoyed music written in A-flat major.

Using the frequent repetition of the chord of one’s own keynote produces a soothing harmonious effect on strained nerves or a tired body. The playing of this chord is a splendid way in which to lift the consciousness above the vicissitudes of personal living and into the realms of inner knowing where all is permanent harmony, peace and love. The benefits of using music to soothe and heal physical ailments can be a viable alternative/addition to using medications. It has been proven that the right music for the individual under different circumstances can greatly reduce the use of medications such as pain killers, heart medications, etc. if not replace them all together. Example, you have a headache, try listening to some music in Db (Flat). (*If you are on prescription medications, do not stop taking your medications until you are advised to do so by your physician).

There are times we need different kinds of music to activate or motivate us, let go of sorrow or even feel sorrow, to make us feel happy, or feel calm, etc. Always listen to the music which makes you feel right at the time you are listening to it. Remember you inherently know what your body needs at the moment when you are listening to it.

Our bodies produce rhythms with the beat of our heart, muscle movements, brain activity, and so on. The earth and all the universe has rhythms that are being produced every minute of every day. There is equipment that can even hear grass grow. Music is all around us, we only need to stop and listen.

Enjoy the music, it is here to help us grow, heal, and understand ourselves more completely. And no matter what you do, you will always have music wherever you go.

Love and harmony always.
